Ogg Vorbis is a free and open source lossy audio codec. Is similar to the MP3 codec although it's sound quality is better at lower bitrates when compared to MP3. That and it is a truly free alternative, whereas MP3 is a proprietary codec. OGG is maintained by the Xiph.Org Foundation. More info can be found at the Xiph.Org website.
