September 2014 - Interviews and plugins
What's the latest?
We have now added 16 interviews, kindly donated from Gabriel Nordeborn, to the Interviews section of LMP. These interviews were originally created for Gabbe's website, zthmusic.com, where he interviewed interesting and inspiring members of the Linux audio community each week trying to shed some light on the many great members of the community.
In addition, tutorials featured on zthmusic.com will shortly be moved over to LMP. In fact, the tutorials and articles on Gabbe's website lead to what now is LMP. Thanks to Gabriel Nordeborn (zth) for allowing us to use this material.
Due to a small technical error, comments were not auto-approved on LMP. This is now corrected and all unapproved comments are now published.
The Friday interview, version two
Our plan is to revitalize the Friday interview section of zthmusic.com, in a new and improved format. First of all, we need to decide what that new format will look like, and we are asking the LMP community to help us out. We have a new survey on the website where you can help us with the kinds of questions you would like to see in the new format. The most popular ones will form the basis of what will become the new interviews. The new format is not intended to be on a weekly basic, as the Friday interview was, but rather extended out over time to make it more sustainable.
If there are any users/developers out there that have software projects in the works, or any other interesting audio related projects, feel free to contact us if you would like to participate in the new interviews when a format is finalized.
Plugin news
We have covered the release of some new and updated plugins. You can check out the links of the following releases:
- New release of Vee One Suite plugins
- Drumgizmo version 0.9.6 is released
- In addition, OpenAV has announced new plugins, which use a donation system to release the source code. Read more about the announcement and information on OpenAV's unique release system: OpenAV announces new plugins in the ArtyFX plugins range.
We need your help
We would also like to reach out to the community to help us fill a few roles managing various aspects of the project. The following are areas for which we currently require managers -
- News section of the website
- Social media accounts, currently Twitter and Facebook
- The newly proposed interview section
If you have any other skills that you feel could help out the project, don't hesitate to contact us. LMP's core members currently consist of 3 members. We would love to grow this to make the overall project more efficient.
Survey results
As always, you are free to come up with your own ideas on what you would like to submit, but if you are wondering what the LMP community is specifically interested in, you can now find out via the survey results to date.
And finally, queries from the “Anything else that you are missing, want more of or just want to tell us?” part of the survey have been added to the content wish list. So, between the two of these, you should get a good idea of what the LMP community are enthusiastic about.
Fly under the LMP banner
If you have existing content, either written or in video format, that you think fits in with what LMP does, maybe you could contribute it under the LMP banner. This is a way of helping out the community, while not having to create any new content. Contact us describing your idea.
Guidelines are now available
Following on from the above, and in general, if you want to know exactly what you need to get going with creating a written article or video, we now have guidelines, including relevant templates, to help you getting started.
If you have any further questions about submissions, do feel free to contact us.
Calling all FLOSS musicians
Since announcing our FLOSS musicians listing, we have had a number of people contact us. We would love to make this list larger and would encourage anyone wanting to share their Libre produced music to contact us so we can include them in the listings.
And finally, thanks again to everyone for the continued support.
