By providing hands-on material submitted by the community, such as guides, tutorials, articles and news updates, we want to show not only that there is great FLOSS audio software out there, but also how to practically use that software to make music. Spencer Jackson has just announced a new release of rkr lv2, his port of Rakarrack effects to the LV2 plugin format. With each effect, the individual effect presets have also been ported. Work is also under way on porting the preset banks to Carla rack presets. This will allow the user to load any of the presets from Rakarrack and insert them as a single plugin in Ardour or other LV2 hosts. The...Read more

Calf Organ is based on a drawbar organ; rather than emulating a specific organ it takes the basic idea and expands on it. You can adjust the harmonic and the waveform of each drawbar, and independently pan and detune them, too. It also has a pair of resonant filters, and three envelopes for modulation, which make it capable of all sorts of synth sounds beyond what you’d expect from an organ. From...Read more

Rui Nuno Capela has just announced the release of QjackCtl 0.4.0. This release makes it easier to get up and running as it now splits the setup settings between two tabs, one with the primary settings with the other tab housing the more advanced setting.
